Davido, Burna Boy and BNXN Dominate Nigeria’s 2025 Streaming Charts

Nigeria’s music industry is thriving—and the numbers tell the story. According to fresh streaming data published by The Debut Hub on X (formerly Twitter), the top-three most-streamed Nigerian albums of 2025 are by Davido, Burna Boy and BNXN. The list reflects not only local fan loyalty but also strong global interest.

While this ranking isn’t officially from Spotify, it has gained serious traction in the Afrobeats scene. The data covers the top 20 albums of the year and shows a total of around 2.214 billion streams so far in 2025.

Top 3 Albums & Streaming Highlights

Davido’s 5ive leads with approximately 320 million streams. The album blends Afrobeats, pop and amapiano, and it has resonated widely.

Burna Boy’s No Sign of Weakness follows with about 250 million streams, underlining his sustained global reach.

BNXN’s CAPTAIN sits in third place with around 193 million streams—a notable rise for an artist once famed mostly for features.

Beyond these three, the top 10 list includes albums from Odumodublvck (THE MACHINE IS COMING), Olamide, Asake and Ruger—all registering major streaming milestones.

Wizkid’s Absence: Timing, Not Relevance

A surprising omission from the list is Wizkid—one of Afrobeats’ most influential global figures. However, his absence is due to timing. His last album, Morayo, dropped in November 2024, which places it outside the 2025 data window. Instead of an album campaign this year, Wizkid has focused on high-impact collaborations across genres and markets.

What the Data Reveals About Afrobeats in 2025

This ranking reveals several key trends in Nigerian music:

Streaming volume is massive. Every project in the top 20 reportedly crossed 50 million streams, showing wide and consistent listener engagement.

Genre blending is now mainstream. Albums are mixing Afrobeats with pop, amapiano, street-hop and Afrofusion influences, signaling artistic evolution and audience willingness to explore.

New stars are emerging. While the heavyweights still dominate, artists like BNXN are stepping up and broadening the genre’s front-line.

Global reach matters. The streaming success isn’t just local—it reflects a global diaspora listening, sharing and participating in the Nigerian music wave.
