According to authorities, the incidents, described as random and unprovoked, began shortly after midnight on Monday and unfolded across multiple locations within the county. The first attack occurred around 12:50 a.m. outside a restaurant on Wesley Chapel Road, where officers responded to reports of a woman with multiple gunshot wounds. She was rushed to the hospital but later died from her injuries.
Roughly an hour later, a second victim, a 49-year-old unhoused man, was shot multiple times while sleeping outside a shopping area. He was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition.
The violence escalated further hours later. Around 6:50 a.m., 40-year-old Lauren Bullis was attacked while walking her dog on Battle Forest Drive. Police say she was both shot and stabbed multiple times, and early reports suggest there may have been an attempted sexual assault before the suspect fled the scene.
A resident who witnessed part of the incident described the moment as chaotic and distressing, recalling how they saw the victim on the ground with a man over her and felt compelled to step in.
Investigators later tracked down the suspect using license plate reader technology, which led them to a rental vehicle he was driving. He was eventually apprehended in Troup County following a felony traffic stop and was taken into custody without resistance.
Authorities have since charged Adon-Abel with multiple offenses, including two counts of malice murder, aggravated assault, and firearm-related charges. However, officials say the motive behind the attacks remains unclear as investigations continue.
The incident has sparked widespread concern within the community, not only because of the brutality involved but also due to the seemingly random nature of the attacks, leaving many residents shaken and searching for answers.
